Unit Manager for Regulation and Sanctions in the Insurance Sector
Do you have extensive experience in qualified legal work? The Financial Supervisory Authority (FI) is now looking for a unit manager who wants to lead the work on regulation and sanctions within the insurance sector!
About the Job
As the head of the Legal Coordination unit, you will help lead the work in the Insurance Law department within the Insurance business area. The department is responsible for legal issues concerning insurance and occupational pension companies, insurance brokers, and pension foundations. You will manage a unit consisting of lawyers who mainly work with supervision and regulation within the area of responsibility. In this role, you are responsible for both the operations and your employees. An important part is to ensure a very high quality in the legal work, manage sanctions and interventions, and contribute to the development of employees, methods, and processes.
You report to the department head and work closely with the other unit manager in the department. You will also have ongoing contact with companies, industry representatives, the Government Offices, and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (Eiopa). You will also be part of the management team for the business area, thus having the opportunity to influence the strategic development of the operations.
A challenge now and in the future is to effectively contribute to the supervisory activities of the area and be responsible for the area's sanction cases. This places demands on you as a unit manager regarding ensuring a very high legal quality and continuing to develop routines and working methods both within the unit and the department, as well as in relation to other parts of the authority. You need to have a very good ability to identify, analyze, and transform complex material into understandable questions and reasoning, and you need to be skilled at prioritizing and navigating in a fast-paced environment.
In your role as a manager, you lead, support, and create good conditions for your employees' results and development, among other things through clear goals and ongoing follow-up. You develop the operations strategically and long-term based on FI's overall goals and work for the whole and collaboration across operational boundaries.
We expect you to have a strong interest in leadership issues and to develop in your role as a leader. We offer you leadership training to provide you with the conditions to succeed in your leadership.
Your Education and Experience
We are looking for someone who
- has a law degree (jur.kand.) or equivalent
- is an assessor from the court of appeal or administrative court
- has extensive experience in qualified legal work within government, court, and/or financial companies, law firms, or equivalent
- has a strong interest in leadership issues and in developing in your role as a leader
- expresses yourself very well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
It is advantageous if you
- have a degree in economics, mathematics, or similar
- have managerial experience or another supervisory position
- have good knowledge of administrative law and public access to information
- have knowledge of the financial system and companies under FI's supervision
- have knowledge of financial regulations.
